Viscovery powers Big Data visualization
Biomax data mining specialists, Viscovery, announce new functionality that lets Big Data be explored faster than ever before. The unique innovation lets large data distributions be represented by Viscovery maps based on a sample of the data, which are nevertheless applicable to the entirety of the data. Instantaneous microstatistics, clustering and profiling as well as real-time access to original data records are available via any partition of the map. Visit the Viscovery website to learn how analysts used the power of Viscovery visualization and advanced analysis to rapidly explore tens of millions of US mortality records — with surprising results.
BioXM framework reveals new COPD insights
As part of the Synergy-COPD Consortium, scientists at Biomax developed a framework to help reveal novel insights into COPD and co-morbidity associated mechanisms. The framework, based on the BioXM Knowledge Management Environment, allowed the consortium to integrate records from 13 million patients in the Medicare database with multi-omics data and disease-gene maps — and mine them for deeper understanding. The results, published this month in BMC Bioinformatics, reveal novel associations between COPD and digestive diseases as well as candidate COPD co-morbidity biomarkers and associations to aging & life-style conditions such as smoking and exercise.
Biomax invited to present the BioXM system at ISMB
Dr. Sascha Losko, Head of Product Management at Biomax, was an invited presenter at the Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) session on "Computational Opportunities and Challenges from Leading Companies in Industrial Biotechnology (IB)." His talk showed how the BioXM system lets life scientists fully leverage a "Design → Build → Test → Learn" iterative approach to create improved biological systems. Check it out here: "Beyond Silos: Knowledge Management as the Key to Operational Excellence".
