10 December Biomax Informatics updates its sequence analysis platform, the Pedant-Pro(TM) Sequence Analysis Suite.

The new Pedant-Pro version 3.3 offers numerous new features significantly improving functionality and ease of use for both users and administrators.

The relevant new features for the user include
• Additional and improved methods for gene prediction and automatic annotation
New overview tables for contigs, genes, proteins, pathways and BLAST results
• Improved DNA and Protein Viewers
• Improved search functionality
• Improved GUI and Command Line Interface data export functionality
• Additional access points for genome comparison
• New Pedant-Pro look and feel

New important features for the Pedant-Pro administrator are
• The removal of the conceptual distinction between primary workflow and secondary workflows. New method nodes can now be added directly to "the" workflow by exactly specifying the node dependencies.
• Update of the object relational mapping framework Hibernate to version 3.2. The whole database abstraction layer has been adopted to support this major release upgrade.
• The implementation of an additional adaptor to utilize compute grids. The DRMAA (Distributed Resource Management Application API) adaptor allows communicating with DRMAA conforming compute grids, e.g. Sun Grid Engine.
5 August Biomax Informatics updates its premier enterprise platform, the BioXM Knowledge Management Environment.

The new BioXM version 3.3 offers significantly enhanced visualization capabilities that simplify the configuration and use of context-dependent, one-click visualization scenarios.

Based on semantic search capabilities, BioXM graphs can be superimposed on-the-fly for displayed scientific entities with both context-dependent information and with globally available information. This allows, for example, the generation of a network of disease-related effects under certain environmental conditions and enrichment of graphical presentation with both condition-dependent, experimentally obtained evidence and literature-derived knowledge.

Information is dynamically presented for interpretation in the same graph. This information graphic can be stored and is updated automatically when new experimental evidence becomes available. Colorful new backdrops provide additional context information, for example, regarding biological compartments.

Among numerous other newly introduced or enhanced features, BioXM version 3.3 is compatible with a variety of office document formats and has been expanded to improve full-text search within imported files. Full support is now available for Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition, as well as the standard operating systems Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X.

31 March Meet us at the ISMB/ECCB in Stochholm.

Come and meet us in Stockholm (27 June - 2 July 2009) at the ISMB/ECCB where we will be presenting at booth 25.
Stop by our booth and see how to integrate, report and analyse clinical and experimental data from proprietary and public resources in a visual, object-oriented approach. We also invite you to discuss and learn from our use case poster "Knowledge management in a Systems Biology approach to translational medicine".
19 February Biomax Informatics AG releases BioXM version 3.1, a minor update of the BioXM Knowledge Management Environment.
The new version 3.1 adds a number of features improving functionality and ease of use for both end users and administrators:
Simplified view configuration – BioXM now allows end users to easily customize administrator configured table views. The user can show or hide table view columns without affecting other users view configurations and keep his preferences for future user sessions.
Configurable naming of graph objects – Instead of having to always use the primary object name, administrators can now configure a custom object-type specific caption for presentation in the graph viewer.
Simplified graphical browsing and streamlined graphical network building – A number of workflow changes allow for faster network creation and modification as well as for easier graphical network browsing.
