Biomax founder Prof. Dr. Mewes
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. H. W. Mewes is one of the pioneers of systematic genome analysis. Dr. Mewes studied chemistry at the Philipps-University of Marburg and wrote his diploma thesis on mitochondrial biosynthesis. He wrote his doctoral thesis "Rapid Identification of Proteins by Amino Acid Analysis and the Use of Protein Sequence Databanks" in 1987.
In 1988, Dr. Mewes founded the Munich Information Center for Protein Sequences (MIPS). MIPS was established to collaborate with partners to build the international PIR Protein Sequence Database. Dr. Mewes is currently the director of the Institute for Bioinformatics (IBI), formerly MIPS.
Dr. Mewes is chairman of the Biomax Advisory Board and is actively involved in the business development and strategy of Biomax Informatics.
